Programme

People coming to Paris are often eager to know the capital, through what connects architecture and urbanism. The overall idea of this cycle is to offer a panoramic view of Paris through five major historical periods of its development:

  • Medieval Paris
Rose-Marie Ferré, History of art and archeology, Paris-Sorbonne University

The history of the urban fabric and major breakthroughs at different times; the creation of perspectives and facades with the boulevards; covered passages; gardens and public places; mansions and workers' towns; stations and museums, the belly of Paris (from the Halles to the sewers), the car traffic and the human flows.

Pedagogically, the general idea is to propose a mix of lectures (3h in the morning) and visits (3h walk in the afternoon) to understand the history of the Paris aspect, from its vestiges to the most recent constructions by renowned specialists professing at the University Paris-Sorbonne.
